Outside coffee co is a unique coffee experience, operating out of a 1956 dalton travel trailer parked in a community garden. we foster genuine connections within our community through providing exceptional customer service, experience and product. we believe that coffee is always better outside. outside coffee is the sister company to woosah outfitters, the local art and apparel brand connected to our garden. we exist to provide a safe space for our community to relax, connect, get inspired, work, etc. since opening our “gates” in june of 2018 we have experienced very rapid growth. we are a small business that is very stoked to be a part of the growing wealthy st. corridor. we plan to continue growing and expanding our capabilities each year within our neighborhood. we are seeking a manager to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Outside Coffee Co Manager is a natural leader who’s passionate and enthusiastic about connecting with community through a unique experience while providing exceptional customer service and product. They are responsible for the day to day shop operations while maintaining high standards and company values. The Shop Manager is eager to improve upon shop systems and processes to accommodate a growing business. This person is a positive force who advocates for improvement, growth and benefit of each team member and the company as a whole. They enjoy working closely in a non traditional environment (camper) and the outdoors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Leadership experience.

  • A background in coffee is encouraged.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

  • This is a full time position. Must be able to occasionally work overtime, including weekends, evenings and special events as needed.

  • High school diploma, college education preferred.

  • Desires to work with a small, growing business.

  • Proficient on a computer; familiar with software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

  • Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task.

  • Must have effective problem solving/decision making abilities.

Shop Operations:

  • Ensures and is accountable for profitability of the shop by growing sales and controlling costs of goods, inventory levels, labor, supplies and expenses.

  • Ensures proper team member coverage, scheduling according to the needs of the business while maintaining target labor costs. Ensures shift coverage when employees call in sick or are unable to work.

  • Oversees all cash deposits. Able to perform all POS duties, front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures.

  • Maintains proper loss prevention standards, reviewing cash handling procedures, deposits and safe procedures.

  • Maintains a clean and efficient shop/garden, following visual presentation plans and standards.

  • Identifies staffing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training needs of qualified candidates. Facilitates ongoing training and development of current staff.

  • Promotes and practices safe work habits

    • Identifies and resolves potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and any team member or customer incidents. Documents accidents, conducts initial investigation and determination of root cause in the interest of maintaining a safe work environment.

Service:

  • Serves as a Role Model for outstanding service, upholding company values and standards daily.

  • Proactive in solving customer problems and satisfying customers in various situations.

  • Ensures that all team members are committed to and demonstrate our company values.

  • Ensures that all team members provide customers with efficient, friendly, superior service on a consistent basis.

  • Consistently monitors, coaches and encourages team members to meet the company’s service standards.

  • Assesses and provides adequate staffing to maintain efficient and friendly, superior service.

Product:

  • Ensures that all company food and drink recipes and procedures are followed, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.

  • Ensures that all team members are educated on our products and services.

  • Tastes food and drink products on a per shift basis for quality assurance.

  • Works with owners on creating and implementing new food and drink menu items.

Training & Development:

  • Provides ongoing training and development to all team members in the areas of operating standards, customer service and product knowledge.

  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and effectively communicate Outside Coffee’s values.

  • Organizes team building exercises and outings quarterly or as necessary.

  • Builds morale and team spirit by fostering a work environment where team members input is encouraged and valued.

  • Ensures each team member has received proper training to perform as a barista or shift supervisor efficiently.

  • Coaches and counsels team members for improved performance, documenting developmental plans as necessary.

Community Coordinating and Events:

  • Works closely with owners on coordinating community events.

    • Plays a key role in planning, preparing and executing event success. This includes being prepared for the increased traffic, inventory replenishment, staffing and work flow.

  • Involved in the community.

    • Comfortable reaching out to community partners in regards to events. Provides ideas for programs and events Outside Coffee can offer the community.

    • Outgoing and passionate about connecting with our diverse community.
